Setup Guide

PocketNOC connects directly to your SolarWinds Orion server over HTTPS. Choose the connection method that fits your environment.

Connecting to Your Orion Server

PocketNOC connects to your Orion server over HTTPS and supports both CA-signed and self-signed certificates. Self-signed certificates are handled via Trust On First Use (TOFU) — on your first connection, PocketNOC will display the server's certificate fingerprint for you to verify and trust.

Direct Connection

Simplest

Connect Directly

Point PocketNOC at your Orion server's hostname or IP. Works with both CA-signed and self-signed certificates. If the certificate is self-signed, PocketNOC will prompt you to verify and trust the fingerprint on first connection.

Remote Access Options

If you need to access your Orion server from outside your network, these options provide secure remote connectivity:

Recommended

Cloudflare Tunnel

Create a secure outbound-only tunnel from your network to Cloudflare. No inbound firewall ports, no domain required, free tier available. Best for remote access without VPN.

Alternative

VPN

Connect to your corporate VPN first, then use PocketNOC as if you were on-site.

Account Setup

PocketNOC works with both local Orion accounts and Active Directory accounts. When using an AD account, log in with the down-level format (DOMAIN\username). Do not use the UPN format (user@domain.com) as it may result in limited data visibility.
